Reproductive Justice and the Catholic Church: Advancing Pragmatic Solidarity with Pregnant Women is available for purchase from Bloomsbury as well as Amazon and other retailers.
The book initiates a new conversation in the Catholic Church about women’s experiences of miscarriage, stillbirth, and abortion. A reproductive justice approach seeks to support women in the midst of complex pregnancy discernments. In a review published by U.S. Catholic (October 2024, 39), Michelle Arnold writes that “This is no dry academic tome.” And further: “Reimer-Barry brings to her work a love for the Catholic tradition and hope for its future.” The book was referenced in Kate Ward, “Notes on Theological Ethics: The 2024 Presidential Election” in Theological Studies 86:2 (June 2025): 292-311. Reproductive Justice and the Catholic Church was promoted in an international book tour (France and England, November 2024), at the San Diego Book Festival on August 23, 2025; and at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Christian Ethics, Washington, DC, on Friday, January 9, 2026.
I am grateful to the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of the Provost at the University of San Diego for their support of my 2021-2022 sabbatical research leave as well as faculty travel funds and the Steber Professorship.
